It is with a heavy heart that Three Links Care Society is announcing the discontinuation of housing services for out-of-town families who require short-term accommodation while a loved one is undergoing hospital treatment for a serious illness. It was a difficult decision, but we feel it is the right one as community needs have changed.
Since 2000, Three Links Houses has been there to assist families with their temporary housing needs during difficult times. In recent years, many other places have appeared in the Lower Mainland providing similar services, which has meant that the Houses have been under-utilized. As a result, Three Links Care Society took this opportunity to re-evaluate its services and re-align itself to its core mission–to provide care and housing services to seniors in need.
As of June 2014, once the last family vacates Three Links Houses, the Houses will be closed over the summer months for renovations. This is to prepare for longer term tenancy which will continue to generate revenue while Three Links Care Society contemplates the future of the Houses and how it will complement the organization’s mission, vision and values. No definite timeline has been established for this, and we anticipate that this will take some time. We will announce our plans once they have been confirmed.
In the meantime, we will soon be accepting long-term rental applications for Three Links Houses for occupancy starting in September 2014. Please stay tuned for more information. Three Links Care Society is honoured to have played a part in providing comfort to the many families that have resided at Three Links Houses in the past 13 years and wish them continued happiness and success in their journey through life. We would also like to thank the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and our community partners for their support of Three Links Houses over the years–it is greatly appreciated.
